- Hi my name is Jeanne Baret. I am a botanist from France and in 1769 I became the first women the circumnavigate the planet.
- Louis Antoine de Bougainville receives permission from King Louis XV and invites Philibert Commerson and his choice of an assistant to be the botanists and join him to sail around the world on the Étoile.

- I want to bring Jeanne but she is not allowed because she is a women. What do I do?
- On November 15, 1766, the Étoile left Nantes, France with 116 crew members including Commerson, and Jeanna Baret dressed as a man
- The first stop on the expedition was Montevideo, Uruguay. By this time Philibert Commerson was very ill and Jeanne Baret did the majority of the Botanist work.
- Later in 1766 in Rio De Janerio, Baret discovered a new flowering vine and named it Bougainvillea after Louis Antonie de Bougainville
- I've never seen this plant before!
- In 1767, after passing through the strait of magellan, the Étoile reached the Island of Tahiti were Jeanne's Gender was revealed
