  • Believe me on my honor, and respect that honor so that you will believe me.
  • Brutus' Speech- Pathos
  • Would you prefer that Caesar was alive and you all die as slaves, or that Caesar were dead and you live as a free man?
  • Brutus' Speech- Logos
  • Caesar was valiant, so I honored him; but Caesar was also ambitious.
  • Brutus is a honorable, credible man. Brutus has always been honorable to Rome no matter the circumstance. He believes that since he is so credible and honorable, the citizens' should believe him and understand why he has murdered Caesar.
  • Antony's Speech- Ethos
  • Caesar was my friend, faithful and just to me.
  • Brutus is appealing to the citizens in an emotional way. Brutus makes the people think as if they were a slave, which will mentally make the people want to believe Brutus as they want to be free. He says that they would be slaves if Caesar was alive, which makes them not care about the death of Caesar as much.
  • Antony's Speech- Pathos
  • When the poor would cry, Caesar would weep.
  • Brutus is giving reasons to the people on why he killed Caesar. Brutus says that Caesar was ambitious, and nobody knew this but him. He is convincing the people to think he was ambitious so his murder is not frowned upon.
  • Antony's Speech- Logos
  • Antony is a credible man on a discussion with Caesar because of his faithfulness and friendship with Caesar. Ethos is shown by Antony's credibility with Caesar. Antony is gaining the peoples trust as nobody knows Caesar like him, so they will believe him.
  • Antony is trying to connect with the people on an emotional level by making them feel the emotion of the poor. Antony wants them to feel sad for Caesar, thinking he was a good man by heart. If he makes the people feel bad for Caesar, the chances are greater for Antony to push his opinion on Caesars death.
  • Antony is trying to give a reason on why Caesar was not ambitious as he says Caesar denied the crown multiple times. Antony is trying to make the people see Brutus as a liar as he is trying to make te people also think there is no way Caesar was ambitious. Antony giving reason on why Caesar was not ambitious makes the Romans hate the conspirators.
  • I presented him with a kingly crown three times, which he refused three times. Was that ambition?
