  • Maniac Magee By: Jerry Spinelli
  • Characters and Setting
  • Hi i'm Jeffrey Magee
  • Hi i'm Amanda Beale
  • Beginning of the Book
  • It's all your fault!!!
  • No, it's all your fault!!!
  • Stop fighting
  • This book is about a boy named Jeffrey Magee. He was born in Bridgeport, and when he was 3 years old his parents died in a car accident. Jeffrey was then sent to his uncle and aunts house, but he ran away from there. Jeffrey ran to the East end where he was not allowed because he wasn't black. The Beale's let Jeffrey stay at there house and then the story of Maniac Magee began.
  • Middle of the book
  • The two main characters in this story are Jeffrey Magee and Amanda Beale. Some other characters are Amanda's siblings and parents, and a baseball player named Mars Bar.
  • End of the book
  • You should start school now.
  • At the beginning of the book, Jeffrey had lost his parents to a car accident when he was 3 years old. He then went to his aunt and uncle's house. At their house they fought everyday, and soon he started to eat one day with his uncle and the other day with his aunt. Jeffrey got mad and got tired of doing this so he ran away to the east side of Two Mills.
  • Lesson learned from the story
  • In the middle of the book, Jeffrey is welcomed to Beale's house because of his of his friend that he met Amanda Beale. Amanda's parents and her younger siblings welcomed Jeffrey to their house. Jeffrey stayed in Amanda's room and she had to stay somewhere else. Jeffrey was not welcome to the East end by some other people because of his skin color. Jeffrey beat Mars Bar in a baseball game and did some other crazy stuff like sleeping outside and doing some crazy dares that the people from the West end told him to do to the East end and Jeffrey became Maniac Magee.
  • Hi Jeffrey, welcome to our house. We are Amanda's younger siblings.
  • Close to the end of the book, Jeffrey meets an old man that takes care of him since he ran away from the Two Mills. The old man constantly tells Jeffrey to join a school but Jeffrey doesn't listen to him. Soon, the man dies and Jeffrey runs back to the West end. At the West End kids make him do many dares, and he goes to the East end and visits the Beale's again. The Beale's welcome him again, and he lives there happily.
  • No, i'm never going to school again.
  • The lesson I have leareaned from this story is that it doesn't matter who's in your family, because Jeffrey lost his family so his aunt and uncle adopted him. When he ran away The Beale's welcomed him to their house even though he ran away from there. That's why the lesson of this story is that it doesnt matter who your family is.
  • I have learned that it doesn't matter who's in your family.
