When times got tough Great Britain saw its colonies as a source to make profit. They forced the colonies to sell their stuff for cheap. After, they would make stuff with the product and sell it at really expensive cost.
Warm delicious tea for sale $2 a cup
Why is it so darn expensive??
After all that time of self government the king finally enforced everything to pass by him. They passed many acts for different things such as the Townshend Revenue Act, taxing everything the colonies couldn't make for themselves. This act also states that the British Government can break into your house and steal your property if they wanted to. But one of the most horrible acts is the Quartering Act stating that British troops can just go into your house and live in it for as long as they need to. All of this also led to the Boston Tea Party.

The colonist finally decided that there was only one way to be free. They all signed the declaration of independence. On July 4th, 1776 the U.S. was born. Breaking ties with Britain the colonies were free and independent!
