- I hereby declare Malcolm heir to the throne!
- Act 1 Scene 5-6
- You spirits that tend on mortal thoughts. unsex me here. And fill me from the crown to the toe top full of direst cruelty.
- Act 1 Scene 7
- When you durst do it; then you were a man.
- Duncan announces to give Malcolm heir of the throne, which puts competition between Malcolm and Macbeth. Soon plans are made for Duncan to eat dinner at Macbeth's house. So Macbeth informs his wife about this to make a plan.
- Macbeth sent a letter to Lady Macbeth to inform her about the witches' prophecy, and about their plan to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth soon comes up with a plan where to murder King Duncan and secure the throne for Macbeth. King Duncan leaves for Macbeth's castle starting tomorrow and arrives. Lady Macbeth acts very nicely to avoid suspicious of any sort.
- Macbeth arrives at his castle with King Duncan inside and they begin dinner, later on during dinner Macbeth soon doubts himself to not kill King Duncan. After dinner is over and when everyone is headed to bed, Lady Macbeth tells Macbeth her plan which is to kill King Duncan in his sleep with a dagger, and then smear the blood of him onto his guards.
