The White family are home on a stormy night with theirson Herbert and their friend Major Morris comes and tell them all about his time in India. "There he is said Herbert as the gate banged to loudly and heavy footsteps came towards the door".

SergeantMajor Morris tells the White family about the magicpaw that he has and all thestory'sabout it then he chucks it in the fire without even a reason. Mr White gets the pawback out of the fire and is told that he must be carefuland if he grants any wishes somethingbad will happenin the process and that there is no point in keepingit.




Mr and Mrs White make there first wishwith the paw to see if it works and they wishfor £200. Nothinghappens straight away and then a manappearsat the gate looking very nervesand smartlydressed. they went to the door and invitedthe man into the room. "she was watching a mysterious movementof a man outside who appeared to be trying to make his mind up to enter"


The man started to explains to them that he had come to tell them that there son had sadly passed away after a serious accident with machinery at work and he had brought with him a certain sum as compensation."was caught in machinery "

Mrs White sat that night alone at the window crying and waiting as if her son was going towalk down the path to there house once more.Then suddenly she comes up with a marvellous idea to use the second wish to bring the son back to life but Mr White doesn't think its a good idea as he has been dead for 10 day and was worried he would be rotting by now. nevertheless the wife demandsthat he gets the monkeys paw and wishes for the second time. he dose so and then they hear knocking at the door.

They both run down the stairs Mrs white ready to answerthe door with Mr white very nervous at this point. Then all of a sudden the knocking and the person at the doordisappear as Mr White used his last wish to send his son back to the graveyard.
