- The White family are home on a stormy night with their son Herbert and their friend Major Morris comes and tell them all about his time in India. "There he is said Herbert as the gate banged to loudly and heavy footsteps came towards the door".
- Climax
- Sergeant Major Morris tells the White family about the magic paw that he has and all the story's about it then he chucks it in the fire without even a reason. Mr White gets the paw back out of the fire and is told that he must be careful and if he grants any wishes something bad will happen in the process and that there is no point in keeping it.
- Falling action
- Mr and Mrs White make there first wish with the paw to see if it works and they wish for £200. Nothing happens straight away and then a man appears at the gate looking very nerves and smartly dressed. they went to the door and invited the man into the room. "she was watching a mysterious movement of a man outside who appeared to be trying to make his mind up to enter"
- Resolution

- The man started to explains to them that he had come to tell them that there son had sadly passed away after a serious accident with machinery at work and he had brought with him a certain sum as compensation. "was caught in machinery "
- Mrs White sat that night alone at the window crying and waiting as if her son was going to walk down the path to there house once more.Then suddenly she comes up with a marvellous idea to use the second wish to bring the son back to life but Mr White doesn't think its a good idea as he has been dead for 10 day and was worried he would be rotting by now. nevertheless the wife demands that he gets the monkeys paw and wishes for the second time. he dose so and then they hear knocking at the door.
- They both run down the stairs Mrs white ready to answer the door with Mr white very nervous at this point. Then all of a sudden the knocking and the person at the door disappear as Mr White used his last wish to send his son back to the graveyard. "the knocking ceased suddenly" "he found the monkeys paw and frantically breathed his third and last wish"
