- Companies began to lay off workers because consumers were not purchasing the products that the companies were producing.
- American workers would be out of jobs and would be losing money because they would have to pay debt on the products that they used credit to buy.
- Products would stay idly on shelves because no American consumers had the money to purchase the products the companies had produced.
