  • Part C in the IDEA provides financial assistance  to states for the purpose of providing services to infants and toddlers with disabilities 
  • IFSP documents and guides the early intervention process for children with disabilities and their families. The written plan is developed with the family
  • Under the IDEA meeting arrangements must be made with and written notice of the meeting provided to the family and other participants early enough before the IFSP meeting date to ensure that they will be able to attend

  • IFSP meetings include the following participants:the parents, other requested family members, an advocate, the intake coordinator who works with the family, a person directly involved in conducting the evals and assessments and an appropriate service provider

  • Periodic IFSP reviews for a child and their family met be conducted every 6 months or more frequently if conditions warrant or if the family request a review

  • When a child with a disability nears the age of 3 they must be considered for services beyond early intervention services such as SPED pre-k programs, head start programs or public pre-k programs
