  • Guten Tag!I made the uncertanty principle. This means that because an electron is so small you cannot know both the position and speed at the same time.
  • Werner Heisenberg (~1925)
  • MatrixMechanics:
  • A = q(n︎ ← n - a)*p(n - a︎ ← n - b) + q(n︎ ← n - b)*p(n - b︎ ← n - b) + q(n︎ ← n - c)*p(n - c︎ ← n - b) + .....B = q(n - a︎ ← n - a)*p(n - a︎ ← n - c) + q(n - a︎ ← n - b)*p(n - b︎ ← n - c) + q(n - a︎ ← n - c)*p(n - c︎ ← n - c) + .....C = q(n - b︎ ← n - a)*p(n - a︎ ← n - d)+q(n - b︎ ← n - b)*p(n - b︎ ← n - d) + q(n - b︎ ← n - c)*p(n - d︎ ← n - d) +
  • I took the Bohr atom model one step furthher by using mathematical equations called wave mechanics. I did this so i could descirbe the electro as a wave and not a particle
  • Erwin Schrödinger (~1926)

  • I think this model is right! The blue is protons and the purple is nunetrons all of the green dots are the elctrons that are orbiting.
  • James Chadwick (~1932)
  • Werner Heisenberg contributed to science by formulating quantum mechanics using matrix mechanics and the uncertainty principle.
  • In your opinion, which scientist had the biggest impact in the development of the model of the atom?
  • HUZZAH!! People believe my theory!! I am the King of the atom!
  • Germnay 1925
  • The quantum mechanical model does not define the exact path of an electron instead it predicts the odds of the location of the electron. The model that was created showed a nucleus surrounded by an electron cloud. Wherever the cloud is most dense the probability of finding the electron is greatest and the electron is less likely to be found in less dense areas of the cloud. This model introduced the concept of sub-energy levels. Schrödinger and Heisenbergs model of quantum mechanics were compatible with one another
  • Thank You!
  • Thats All Follks! The History of the Atom!
  • Austria 1926
  • People were confused that the mass of the element was higher than the number of protons. Rutherford proposed a proton/ electron pair in the nucleus that was neutral. To prove this Chadwick studied the kinetic energy (KE) of the particles emitted from the beryllium atoms. Knowing the KE and speed Chadwick was able to calculate the mass of the particle and then neutrons were discovered.
  • All sources were from the notes and the assignmets from class
  • Democritus had the biggest impact because he was the one who first talked about the atom and brought it into science. Without him, none of these people would have developed his theory further. His impact was also the biggest because his model was the base of all the other rones.
