Order Entry, SWI 6-001Qualifiers include patient name plus one of the following:Account Identification number Full address Phone number Matching prescriber in history
Hi Susan. Dennis and I were discussing an order I received. The patient provided a member number that pulls up an active account. The address and phone number are a match, but the patient is not on the account.
Well if the patient provided their member number then I would use it and pend the patient name.
Dennis! You can’t use a member number if the patient is not on theaccount.
The patient gave us their member number and we have two qualifiers, member number and address. Why wouldn’t we use the member number they gave us
Family members in one household may have separate accounts, similar to DOD accounts.
They may share order forms not realizing a member number is on it or that our system may scan the barcode and provide another family member’s account.
Oh OK, I get it. If the patient name is not on the account then the next search we will use for another account is the patient’s name and DOB?
That is right Dennis. One of the qualifiers must be the patient name. If the patient is not on the account, perform a member search following the Hierarchy of Searches.
