- Many years ago, a wealthy man named Hugo Baskerville set hounds after the escaped woman he loved, whom he had kidnapped. Upon her escape, he made a deal with the devil as a last resort to reaching her and insuring her dead. A few hours later, however, both Hugo and the woman were found deceased on the moor where he had pursued her, bite marks evident on his throat,
- Today, descendants of the Baskerville family are cursed by this viscous hound, each facing hideous deaths.Or, so the legend goes...

- Most took the tale of the Baskervilles as simply another myth...
- Until Sir Charles, a descendant of the cursed family, was found dead in the very same moor as his predecessor
- Even so, local police ruled his death to be nothing but a heart attack.And that may have been all. A clear cut, open and shut case. Coincidental, perhaps, but at no point supernatural. That is, until a Dr. James Mortimer entered the picture...

- Dr. Mortimer, unsure of another course of action, went to the door of astound detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, Dr. Watson.
- He, unlike the local officers, was sure in the criminal causes of Sir Charles' death, and he had the evidence to prove it.
