What happens when we bring fish up from the Twilight Zone to the surface?
Volume
This is the formula for Boyle's Law. Notice how temperature isn't included because it assumes temperature is constant.
Pressure
P V = P V

Volume and pressure have an indirect relationship, as one increases, the other decreases.
Prediction: As the pressure decreases, the volume of gas-filled organs in the fish will increase since pressure and volume's relationship is indirect.
Least pressure
Most pressure
Firstly, we need to know Boyle's Law. This law only applies to gases. Boyle's Law states that pressure and volume's relationship is indirect. This means that as one increases, the other decreases. The same applies for the opposite, as one decreases, the other increases. This assumes that temperature and mass stay the same.
Swim Bladder
Secondly, pressure in water increases while depth increases. When an object is surrounded by water, it experiences pressure from the force of the surrounding water. As you descend deeper into the water, pressure increases because the weight from all the water above you creates a greater force pushing against the object.

Additionally, the Twilight Zone being at the bottom of the sea, it has the most pressure, whereas the surface has the least pressure. Thus, if we are bringing a fish from the Twilight Zone to the surface, there will be a decrease in pressure, leading to an increase of volume.
Lastly, to help them maintain their buoyancy, most fish have a gas-filled organ called a "swim bladder." It is hard for the fish to handle quick changes in pressure because of this gas-filled organ since, according to Boyle's Law, as pressure decreases, the volume will increase.
So, if a fish from the Twilight Zone (where pressure is high) were to be brought up to the surface (where pressure is low), there would be a decrease in pressure. According to Boyle's Law, a decrease in pressure will result in an increase in volume. Thus, this causes the swim bladder to expand and crush other vital organs, killing the fish.
