- My life I never held but as a pawn to wage against thy enemies.

- Fairest Cordelia,thee and thy virtues here I seize upon.
- The king had asked Cordelia to change her speech a little but she wasn't able to and gave him nothing more than an expression of love. King Lear told her that she was no longer her daughter. The earl of Kent tried to stop King Lear. King Lear told him if he wanted to stay alive he would have to stop talking.
- Dear Daughter,on my knees I beg that you'll vouchsafe me food,bed and raiment.
- Good sir,no more :return to my sister
- King Lear stays with his daughter,Goneril but she didn't like having so many of the king's followers around.King Lear lived with his other daughter,Regan instead.Regan and the duke of cornwall put Kent(King' s servant) in the stocks.When Lear arrived he asked Kent who had put him in stocks.
- O sir, to willful menThe injuries that they themselves procureMust be their schoolmasters.
- King Lear decided to split the land for all three of his daughters but after what had happened,he had only split the land between his other two daughters.The king of France wanted to take her as her queen.The King agreed and told him that his only dowry would be his dissaproval.The king of France agreed.

- The king called Regan and the duke of cornwall and tells Regan how Goneril had abused him.Regan told him that Goneril did nothing wrong and that he should ask for forgiveness.Lear didn't want to return back to Goneril.
- King Lear had reminded Regan that he had given her half of the kingdom but she refused to be moved.The two sisters made fun of their father until Lear left.
- Kent was released from the stocks and went after King Lear.On his way,he learned from a gentleman that the army of France was in Dover,preparing to attack England.He sent this gentleman to find Cordelia and tell her of her sisters' abuse of their father.
