- The British Parliament
- The British army won the war against the French and Indians, but the British Parliament decided to keep the army in america so they made the colonists pay for the army. After the war Brititish Parliament put the navigation acts in place. Which made colonists pay taxes for non-british imports.
- The Boston Massacre
- In order to stop smuggling the British Parliment passed a law that any goverment offical could search a house.
- The Boston Tea Party
- The British Parliament Passed the stamp act which said that all legal documents required a revenue stamp.
- The passing of the Declaratory Act
- British soldiers were marching through the streets of Boston when they were met with heckling and various objects (thrown at them) coming from the colonists. The soldiers fired at the colonists and instantly killed 3 and two died later.
- The British tried to sell the colonists cheap tea so the angered colonists dressed as Indians and boarded the British ships. Once the colonists were aboard the threw the barrels of tea overboard into the river.
- After the repeal of the Stamp Act (due to the Sons of Liberty) the British Parliament passed the Declaratory Act. This allowed Britain the right to make laws in the Colonies. This was the last straw for the colonists.
