Storyboard Text

  • My name is Sir Matthew the Brave of Shrewsbury and I serve the Lord Solomon of Canterbury.
  • My name is Alice I have a son but no other children, my main job in life is to look after the family and our house.
  • My name is Oliver and my dream is to become a fearless knight like my Father one day.
  • Good! I don't think I have anything more for you to do until lunch, so go to the laundry room
  • Finished!....what can I do now?
  • Yes miss, my name is Oliver, the cook told me to come here.
  • Oh! Are you a new page here, Little Fellow?
  • Alright, you can take those baskets of clothes out to the line outside, and hang them up
  • Yes miss
  • 1274 in a small village, north of what is known today as London, a boy is woken by his Father...
  • Yes Father.
  • Oliver my son, the time has come to begin your future as a knight.
  • Will I become a great warrior like you one day Father?
  • Yes my son, I'm sure you will.
  • Today you will go to the Lord's castle, whom I serve, and you will promise to serve him as a Page. You will do all that he tells you and never disobey him, this is the first step towards becoming a knight.
  • The first thing you do is kneel down at the Lord's feet...
  • ...you then quickly stand back up and look him in the eye...
  • The Lord will ask you a question like: So, you wish to serve me? If he asks you this, you must say, "Yes Master". If he accepts you as a Page he will then give you a job to do in the castle.
  • Thank-you Oliver, you can now take Rebecca's job, put that pile of clothes in the cauldron and use the stick to stir it around. Once the water is dirty, remove the clothes and put them in the baskets you have there.
  • Yes miss.
  • Hmmm...........I wasn't really expecting this!
  • Be brave Son, and good luck!
  • Well, here I go!
  • What a job!
  • Are you refusing your orders?
  • I'm nervous.
  • Is this where I am supposed to go?
  • Come in, Oliver.
  • No miss, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to complain.
  • Good!
  • (sigh)
  • So, you wish to serve me?
  • Yes Master, I do.
  • ...and so you shall! I now officially name you a Page, now go to the cook house and make yourself useful.
  • Uh.......I think the water is rather dirty now.....
  • Yes Sir, the Master told me to come here and make myself useful
  • So, you are a new Page here?
  • Yes sir
  • Alright, sweep this kitchen floor, and then...well, we'll see.
  • Here is the washing, miss.
  • Very good, it will be lunch soon, so go back to the cook house.
  • I'm glad you are back, hang this over the fire and let it simmer.
  • Why should I be here sweeping a cookhouse? I want to become a knight!
  • Are you refusing your orders?
  • Er.......no Sir, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to complain.
  • Good! A piece of advice, you don't become a knight in a just a few seconds, it takes courage, time and effort, so get used to it.
  • Oliver, put that meat on this plate and put it on the floor along with the bread, I am going to bring out the turkey.
  • Yes, sir
  • We will need help carrying all this to the dining room, go to the field where the other pages are training and tell their trainer that I need them.
  • (Sigh)
  • Maybe becoming a knight is not such a good idea.
  • No!......I will become a knight, just like my Father!
  • Sir, I have orders from the chef to take these boys to the cookhouse, the chef needs their help for lunch
  • Alright, but come back soon
  • Good! now slice up that bread evenly, it will be served at the Lord's table at lunch
  • I'm finished, what can I do next?
  • There you are! The Lord and his guests are already sitting at the table! Hurry and take this food to the dining room! Come back for the turkey!
  • Oh no!
  • Oh, wait! Don't forget to bow down and present the food to the Lord first, if he approves he will bow his head, you then go to the other guests!
  • Yes sir
