- Hi my name is Katherine Johnson I was born August 26, 1918 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
- I am an African American like Rosa Parks. I was also doubted a whole lot but that made me work even harder.
- I am a mathematician and I worked at NASA from 1953 to 1986. Without me, Neil Armstrong would have never stepped foot on the moon.
- In addition to work, I had to go through racism and people doubting me to reach my goals.
- Another of my challenges was how people thought men were better than women and had better jobs. But, look what I did.
- I lived up to my potential by not holding back. But in the end, people didn't recognize my name when heard.
- When I started at NASA we didn't even have computers, but in 1961 I helped send Alan Shepard into space in a rocket ship.
- After all of my achievements, it wasn't until the movie Hidden Figures that many people learned who I was.
