  • After Lousiana was purchased from France by the US for 15 million dollars, Lewis and Clark were tasked to explore this territory. They used a native named Sacagewea as a guide.

  • The Indians were relocated to Oklahoma from all across the eastern part of the United States
  • Oregon Territory
  • Texas revolted against Mexico as they were not allowed to sell slaves. The Mexicans killed all Texans at the Alamo. This shows the battle that took place.
  • American Indian War
  • War began as U.S. soldiers move to the Rio Grande to prepare for the backlash from Mexico after the U.S. annexed Texas. The U.S. won the war against Mexico. They signed the treaty at San Jacinto. This slide shows that treaty, also known as the Compromise of 1850. Winning the war gave the U.S. the 31st state, California.

  • As settlers moved west they traveled along the famous "Oregon Trail". Many died on this trail, but people went anyway as the land was ridiculously cheap in the west averaging only a few cents per acre.
