  • Before the eruption, Mount St Helens was a lovely place to relax on Spirit lake or have a picnic in the grassy planes.

  • On May 18th 1980, the volcano erupted in two places. Out the top and out the side which meant that a crater was left at the end.

  • After the eruption the side of the volcano was ripped out and Spirit Lake was toxicated, filled with ash and wood from the neighbouring forests and black from soot. The forests were no longer and life for miles around was wiped out.

  • We need to sort this place out quickly - its a barran waste land.
  • The Spririt Lake was ruined with it being toxicated and wood from trees covering the surface. The water is black with ash and mud. This picture is inaccurate because the forests and life was totaly wiped out. No greenery was left.
  • Rivers were blocked with the landfall and wood which jamed the harbers up. This means loads of goods can't get into or out of the harbor.
  • After the eruption, people continuishly monitered the volcano so they were prepared for it if it erupted again. Life was slowly restored and people worked hard to clean out the lake. Some animals and plants had astonishingly survived the dreadful eruption.
