In 1765 the first direct tax on the colonist was born. This Tax was on legal documents, and printed good.
How did they stop this
WE REFUSE TO BY YOUR PAPER GOODS
The Stamp act effected the colonist many ways. One way this effected the colonist was that hey had no representation for any of this.
Violence
GET THEM!!!

You would think that the tax would benefit everyone, but no this only was a goos thing for the British. All the money was going to the British army.
YAAYYYY
One way that they used to put a stop to this was not buying the legal documents and paper goods.

The colonist did not stop there. They brought violence into this and started attacking the tax collectors home.
Finally in 1766 the stamp act was lifted, and now everyone is happy :).
