  • Slide: 1
  • Hello, my name is Gage Chapman and I believe that the book, “The Hate U Give” Should not be banned due to it including realistic content, themes, and having Subjects that a kid should learn about and could be interested in.

  • The first Topic I believe that this Book fits within would be Engagement. This is because it helps Show and allow Ninth Grade Students to learn about Specific Topics such as Racial Bias against people of color shown through the Officer Killing her friend and her having to Fight to get him to Justice.
  • The book, The Hate U Give, is about an African American Girl whose friend is killed unjustified by a Police Officer because of Racial Bias and how she tries to help the Police Officer be Punished for his Actions.

  • The second Topic I believe that this Book fits within would be how Appropriate it is and if the Content would fit a Ninth Grade Classroom. The content within the book is realistic to what some People of Color go through and have happen to them within real life. This would be Dealing Drugs or even Drinking while Underage. However, I believe that this Realistic Content helps show Ninth Grade Students what some people go through within Real Life which would help Further Show in order for them to Prevent or even help stop Racial Bias due to the Accurate Content.
  • The Final Topic I believe that this Book fits within would be its Plot and Theme. The Book’s Plot focuses on Events that can and have happened in Real Life such as Violence and Injustice against People of Color. If books like these are banned and silenced, it could prevent the message and information from the book to be known. Because of this, I believe that the Plot and the Theme would help Teach Ninth Grade Students to help Fight for Justice and to help Prevent or even Stop Bias against People of Color.
