hey how come we can't vote, or have our own house?
I don't know. All the men say all were good for is cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the kids.
We aren't allowed to work in medicine either.
Women's Rights movement (1848)
We need to change the law so we are treated equal.
The lets pass our declaration that will end all our discrimination.
We call it the declaration of sentiments.
Hi I'm Lucretia Mott I helped runaway slaves and advocated for women's rights.
Hi I'm Elizabeth Cady Stanton, I called for suffrage for all women.
Hi I'm Susan B. Anthony, I also worked for suffrage and I created the daughters of temperance.
Back in mid 1800's women weren't allowed to vote, own property, divorce, or work in medicine.
This wouldn't have worked without the Declaration of sentiments.
In 1848 reformers met at Seneca Falls, New York, to address women’s rights. The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions that they passed called for an end to laws that discriminated against women.
yay we have rights now!
There were 3 very important people involved with this reform. Lucretia Mott, who had helped runaway slaves and advocated for women's rights. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, called for suffrage for all women. Susan B. Anthony, she worked for suffrage and created the daughters of temperance.
Their best strategy that helped them on their way to equality was the Declaration of sentiments because it is the main reason that women are now allowed to vote.
The woman's rights movement allowed women to not only vote but also own their own property, divorce their husbands and work in medicine and ministry.
The women's rights movement made it so that now the men you have to respect them as equal and also meant that the men couldn't discriminate against the women anymore.
Ha now you have to respect us.
