- The thing that caused the war was the continued impressment of us ships. They then cut off all trade with great Britain. And Congress approved Madisons request to declair war which was risky.
- Sea Battles
- In the war of 1812 we were having conflicts with the native americans but what was realy disturbing is that they had british manufactured guns. This meant that the british were coming down from canada and providing the Indians with guns. As a result this increased our conflict with them.
- The Battle of New Orleans
- In 1812, 13, and 14 America had tried to push into Canada thinking they could just easaly take over it. But what they did not realize is that every time they tried to the brittish drove them back to the U.S
- Results of the war
- Just off the coastes of our countrie British naval men were destroying our ship and seizing our men. One of the greatest insodences of this was the destruction of the Chesapeak. What happened was British naval men asked to board the ship the sailors denied and as a result the british opened fire. They destroyed the ship killing two men and taking three but latter killing another.
- After the British won and felt impowered they surronded the US. Britain had a crippiling deffeat. The U.S lost 70 men while the British lost 2000 and they came in with 7500.
- At the end of the war both sides claimed to have one but in reality neither sides won. What really ended the war was the treaty of ghent. After the treaty the impressment of ships slowly fadded away. Although the fighting with Britain stopped we still continued to fight with the native americans for the next 20 years.
