  • He has escaped, we have failed our task.
  • ACT 3 SCENE 3The (now three) murderers are waiting for Banquo and his son, Fleance to pass by in the woods to kill them both.
  • ACT 3 SCENE 3They stop Banquo and have a fight with him, which ultimately results in his death. Banquo tells Fleance to run away while he still can and to eventually avenge his death.
  • ACT 3 SCENE 3While Banquo is killed during this altercation, Fleance is able to escape from the murderers. Therefore, the prophecies can still carry through as Fleance does not die.
