- Take it easy, kid. You're in an ambulance. You passed out from smoke inhalation after you saved all those kids.
- Where am I? What's going on?!
- Dally is a bit burned, but he'll be fine. Johnny, however, is in critical condition, and may have a broken back.
- Where are Dally and Johnny? Are they okay?
- I swear, you guys are the bravest kids I've seen in a long time. Are you professional heroes or something?
- What? No, we're greasers, JDs. We're in trouble with the fuzz.
- No, go to town and you'll find out.
- Are you kidding me?
- We're going into town anyway, that's where your billfold said you lived. Your name's really Ponyboy?
- Yeah, and don't bug me about it. Are the kids okay?
