- Question: Are fish alive?
- Claim: Fish are alive.
- Evidence and Reasoning: This fish is made of complex organized cells. People can't make fish like other materials, so we now fish are alive.
- Evidence and Reasoning: This fish changed size over time. It was not always big or small. It grew over time; therefore, it is alive.
- When the weather is colder, I rest more and move more slowly.
- Evidence and Reasoning: Fish respond to their environment in the winter by resting and moving more slowly. This shows that they are alive, too.
- Paragraph: This fish is alive. It has several characteristics of life. For example, it is alive because it is made of cells. People can't make a fish at home like other materials. Also, fish grow over time. They do not stay the same size. This demonstrates they are alive, too. As well, fish respond differently when they are exposed to different climates. This is another example that shows fish are alive. For all these reasons, it is easy to see that fish are alive.
