12th Lit Unit 3 Poem Assignment

Storyboard Text

  • "If ever two were one, then surely we. If ever man were loved by wife, then thee" (Bradstreet). If two people were married and became one, then we have defintely become one. If a man was ever loved by his wife, then you are loved.
  • "If ever wide was happy in a man, Compare with me, ye women, if you can" (Bradstreet). If a wife was ever happy with her husband, then I am happy. Women compare your marriages with me if you can.
  • There is imagery in this poem such as this line,"I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold, Or all the riches that the East doth hold" (Bradstreet). Anne Bradstreet mentioned "mines of gold" and "all the riches that the East doth hold" which creates imagery in the readers head, them imagining gold in mines and the East's riches.
  • "My love is such that rivers cannot quench, Nor ought but love from thee give recompense" (Bradstreet). The poem turns at this line. In the first few lines, Anne Bradstreet breifly states about how her and her husband have become one. From the quote above and on, she goes into more detail of how she loves him, rather then briefly writing about their relationship.
  • "Thy love is such I can no way repay; The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray" (Bradstreet). I cannot repay your love. I hope God will reward you greatly for your love for me.
  • "Then while we live, in love let's so persever, That when we live no more, we may live ever" (Bradstreet)." Let's stay loyal to each other while we're alive so that when we die, we will forever. The theme of this poem is undying and unconditional love between a husband and a wife.
