- Mecca
- We are from Medina. Please move here to bring peace between some tribes. We will protect you.
- Of course.
- In Medina...
- You must respect the Jews and the Christians as well.
- Muhammed, we will pledge to be loyal and help out each other. We want to convert to Islam.
- War on the Muslims
- People of Mecca! I declare war on the Muslims!
- Muhammed lost his someone very close, and needed protection as Muslims were becoming more unwelcome in Mecca. Some pilgrims asked him to move to Medina because they wanted peace between feuding tribes. He agreed.
- Meccans vs. Muslims
- We surrender. There is no need of war now.
- Muhammed's journey to Medina was called the hijrah. Muhammed created a community for Muslims in Medina. His hijrah later became the first year in the Muslim calendar.
- Destruction of Idols
- The Meccans started to feel threatened, and a war soon started between the Meccans and Muslims. The Muslims succesfully attacked a caravan, and Meccans tried but failed to capture the city of Medina.
- Muhammed's Death
- Remember, you all should always act kindly towards each other, and you should be faithful to our Muslim community.
- Meccans made a truce with the Muslims, but broke the truce in 630 BCE. Muhammed's army marched toward Mecca, and the leader surrendered without a fight.
- After the leader surrendered, Muhammed and his followers destroyed the idols and the Ka'ba, and made the shrine so that it as dedicated to Allah (Muslim's name for the one God)
- Muhammed led a final pilgrimage to Mecca and delivered his Last Sermon. He reminded Muslims to be well to each other and be faithful. He died soon after his return to Medina.
