- The Rwandan Civil war was a civil war in Rwanda. The war was fought between the Hutu and the Tutsi, two groups that didn't get along, both live in Rwanda. When the Hutu took over the goverment, many Tutsi were forced to leave. A group of the Tutsi formed a group called Rwandan Patriotic Front, RPF. RPF fought against the Rwandan goverment. RPF was led by Fred Rwigyema and Paul Kagame.
- HUTU SHOULD BE IN CHARGE!!!
- NO!!! TUTSI!!! RPF!!!
- When the war began, RPF invaded Rwanda. Fred Rwigyema was killed in action on the second day. The Rwandan army, which was helped by troops from France were winning. RPF was defeated in a month. Paul Kagame, who was in the USA during the attack, took RPF to the Virunga Mountains to regruop.
- WE WILL BE BACK!
- RPF! We need to regroup!
- NO MORE WAR!!!
- After a couple months, RPF returned, but this time, neither side was winning. Soon, the people began to protest. This forced the Rwandan president to beging to negotiate peace agreements with RPF. Eventully, this resulted in the signing of the Arusha Accords, which brought uneasy peace to Rwanda.
