Storyboard Text

  • After all the conspired rumors about Gatsby, reporters show up to his home to interview him. Then the story is cut to Gatsby's early life before wealth.
  • Why of course!
  • Tell us about yourself Mr. Gatsby
  • Jay Gatsby was born James Gatz on a North Dakota farm. He attended college in Minnesota, but shortly dropped out because oh his dreadful janitorial work which paid for his tuition. One day, he saw a wealthy yacht owner and worked for him abroad. Gatsby fell in love with the wealth and luxury.
  • When Cody, the yacht owner, died he left Gatsby $25,000 but Gatsby was never able to retrieve it due to Cody's mistress. It was because of this that Gatsby dedicated his life to becoming a wealthy and successful life.
  • After the reunion of Gatsby and Daisy at Nick's house, Nick hadn't seen them for weeks. Nick stops by at Gatsby's house one day. He is surprised to see Tom and the Sloanes talking to Gatsby. Gatsby invites them to stay for dinner but they don't want to. Then, Tom invites Gatsby over to be polite and Gatsby says yes. Tom is annoyed and regrets asking Gatsby to come over.
  • At the party, Daisy is upset at Tom for talking about how Gatsby became rich. Tom told Daisy that Gatsby has an illegal bootlegging (selling alcohol illegally) business.
  • After the party, Gatsby wants to talk to Nick. Gatsby is upset because he saw that Daisy did not have a good time at the party. Gatsby wants Daisy to leave Tom so things can be how they were in the past. Nick says that he can't recreate the past. Gatsby thinks he can by using his money.
