Luke was outside when he saw the first tree fell. Then, his mom called him inside, and he obeyed the words. Luke didn't understand why he had to hide, so he asked. His parents told him that the government wanted the land, and they could never say no to the government. Since Luke was a third child, he had to stay hidden now because there was a policy against anyone like him.
Luke! Inside. Now!
Luke peeked out of the kitchen window, looking at the outside. His dad saw what he was doing and bellowed at him. His dad told him that he shouldn't be looking outside because there was a big risk that the Population Police would find out and kill Luke. Then, his dad warned him that from now on, he has to stay away from all windows and should stay away from all rooms unless they have the curtains closed.
Are you trying to be discovered?
Luke decided to go downstairs to the kitchen and make some food. He wanted to make his parents proud. Luke wanted the feel like he was useful. Even though Luke knew he was safe since he counted that all people were gone, but his dad didn't think so. After his dad lectured him, Luke went upstairs to his room and saw the slight glimpse of a child in the window of the Sports family house.
