- *Katie Sobbing about Bera-Bera
- Katie is the main protagonist in the story. Her name means "Kira-Kira", and she uses it to describe a lot of things. She is very innocent, and enjoys spending time with her older sister, Lynn. Katie ends up being bit by a dog at a young age
- Lynn is Katie's big sister. She looks after Katie, even if she thinks she's bossy most of the time. Though, she might seem bossy, Lynn is kind to Katie. When their parents are gone, Lynn takes care of Katie.
- How aren't you feeling anything?!
- This is Katie's mother, who she calls mom. She is 4'10. Even though she's one of the shorter people of the family, Katie and Lynn both get scared when she's mad. Along with her husband, she runs a small Oriental foods grocery store. Katie's mother might seem firm at first, although, she does care for both of her daughters. She feels the wave of sadness Katie's feeling when she couldn't sleep with Bera-Bera on the night of their move.
- *Talks about drama*
- Uncle Katsuhisa is Katie and Lynn's uncle. He worked in a poultry hatchery in Georgia. He offered jobs at the Hatchery to Mother and Father multiple times. Uncle Katsuhisa always cheers Lynn and Katie up. On the night they were sad, he cheered the sisters up by singing to them.
- Father is the father of Lynn and Katie, and the husband to Mother. He had never doubted anything in the world. He's very trusting, along with being mild--like a sea on a windless day. He's also very strong, and would let Lynn and Katie punch him in the stomach without feeling a thing
- Amber is Lynn's first and one of her closest friends since her family moved. She was one of the popular kids at her school, though, she abandoned her rank to make Lynn feel more welcome. She hopes to be a model one day, and acts prim and proper most of the time. Lynn takes Amber as an inspiration to become fancier than she already is.
