The Declaration of Independence
One day they had enough. A few men, such as Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin, wrote a document called The Declaration of Independence that was written against the King and his taxes.
Many men signed the declaration, and Benjamin Franklin read it to the Colonists on the steps of the courthouse.
