A general assembly representing the French estates; the clergy, the nobles and the bourgeoisie. The third estate formed into a national assembly inviting the other two to join, against the king's wishes.
On June 17, 1789 the third estate started to call themselves the National Assembly. On June 20, they got locked out of their meeting so they moved to an indoor tennis court and took the tennis court oath.
In Paris, France many people were angry about having very little bread. On July 14, 1789 they got a hold of some weapons, and went to a political prison named Bastille, and killed the guards. They all freed the people who were held in the prison and began to break apart the prison with their bare hands and a few cannons.
