- Rodrick is unsympathetic, lazy, and hates his brother. Rodrick is also the antagonist.
- Greg is lazy because he says in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul that doing nothing and relaxing playing video games is the best thing to do over summer break. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul Greg says" As long as the air-conditioning was working and the TV remote had batteries in it, I was all set for a relaxing summer vacation." (Jeff Kinney, 1). What Greg says is lazy because he wants to stay inside and watch TV all summer

- Greg is also shy because he doesn't won't to let out any emotions during the ride for thing he doesn't like. In the Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul it talks about how he doesn't like a mommy meal but keeps it to himself. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul Greg says "I wouldn't have eaten the whole orange if I'd known the prize was a pack a math flash cards."(Jeff Kinney 1). In this he talks about a prize of math flash cards and he was disappointed in his prize but didn't protest it.

- Greg is also impassive because through the whole entire book he is bored, doesn't want to do stuff, and complains a lot. Theres one example in Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul where he complains about these three kids crashing cleaning cart in a wall. In the Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Long Haul Greg says"I couldn't BELIEVE these kids' parents were letting them run wild in the middle of the night, so I stepped out of the room and went over to give them a piece of my mind."(Jeff Kinney). In this he complains about the kids running wild in the middle of the night and also complains about their parents letting them.

- Rodrick is unsympathetic because in the book the Diary of the Wimpy Kid The Long Haul his mom gave him money and a list of things she wanted and Rodrick just got things for himself instead for the family because he doesn't care. Greg says on page 58 "Dad had to circle the parking lot about ten times, which wasn't easy since we were towing a boat. Eventually, Rodrick came out with a couple of bags of groceries. And from the looks of it, he picked up some extra items for himself."(Jeff Kinney, 59). In this it says that he picked up some stuff for himself and took his moms money to buy stuff for himself and that shows a selfish or unsympathetic trait.
- There was on time in the Diary of the Wimpy Kid The Long Haul when Rodrick played a prank with Greg and they were working together without any problems. On page 21 Greg says "me and Rodrick used to sit in the way back TOGETHER, in a seat that faced the rear window. But we go in big trouble when we played a practical joke on Mom and Dad that ended up getting us pulled over by the police." In this Greg talks about him sitting together and playing a joke with Rodrick even though Rodrick hates Greg.
- Rodrick is lazy because in the Diary of the Wimpy Kid The Long Haul the Heffleys' were deciding how they could add extra storage to the car Rodrick suggested that they should get a trailer for him to have a mini-apartment to stay in. Greg says on page 18 "But it was pretty clear Rodrick was imagining the trailer as a sort of mini-apartment for HIMESELF, so that wasn't gonna fly, either."(Jeff Kinney, 18). He wants to have an apartment all to himself and not have to go through the troubles of the long ride. Thats why he is lazy is because he doesn't care for anyone else he just wants to have a easy ride and not have any pain while on the ride.
- Rodrick also hates his brother and annoys his brother all the time. One time in the Diary of the Wimpy Kid The Long Haul he gave the backseat to Greg his brother and Rodrick usually takes the back seat to sleep but he gave it to Greg. The reason he gave it to Greg is because the bags made the seat super uncomfortable so he wanted the middle seat instead of the back seat, so then he gave it to Greg. Greg says on page 21-22 "When we got in the van today, Rodrick offered me the backseat. I accepted before he could change his mind, but I should've known his offer was too good to be true." In this Greg says he should've known the offer was too good to be true. When he says this he's pointing to the backseat because it was very uncomfortable.
- In the Diary of the Wimpy Kid The Long Haul one time Greg wasn't lazy and agreed to take his little brother Manny to the bathroom because his mom asked him too. On page 141 Greg says "After lunch, Mom asked me to take Manny to the bathroom, which only had one toilet in it. so I waited outside for him to do his business." Greg wasn't lazy and and agreed to take Manny to the bathroom without complaining.
