- Claudio is Deceived
- Claudio, how could you suspect me of such a thing on our wedding day? I am going to faint!
- I will not marry you, Hero, you cheated on me with Borachio!
- Claudio's Deception Continued
- Forgive me sir, Don John deceived you and had Margaret pretend to be Hero. Sadly, Hero has died from the shame of her name being slandered.
- Oh how awful, she has died because of my untrue words. Lock up the people responsible - Don John and Borachio!
- Deceiving Beatrice
- Oh my, Benedict loves me? If this is true , I feel I do love him, too!
- (Whispering)Beatrice is listening, lets trick her now! (Loudly) I hope Benedict reveals his love for Beatrice. He loves her and does not know how to tell her.
- Yes My Lady, Benedict is indeed in love with Beatrice.
- When Claudio sees Margaret disguised as Hero kissing Borachio by her window, he immediately believes his own eyes and does not confront Hero or question her. Instead Claudio humiliates her in front of everyone at their wedding the next day and causes her to become ill.
- Deceiving Benedict
- (Whispering) Benedict is listening, lets trick him now! (Loudly) Hero tells me Beatrice is madly in love with Benedict. Those two would make a fine couple.
- Claudio is told to watch Hero’s window one night because Don John wants to create a problem and make him think Hero is cheating on him. Claudio does not know that Don Jon and Borachio have set him up to believe that Borachio and Hero are having an affair.
- Deceiving Hero at the Masquerade
- I will woo Hero for Claudio. She will never know its me, Don Pedro.
- Leonato, since Hero has fallen ill, we can tell everyone she has died so she can hide out until we find out why Claudio has slandered her.
- Beatrice is fooled by Hero and her servant into thinking that Benedict loves her. They deceive her because they know the two should be together.
- Friar Francis Deceives the People
- Friar Francis if you think she is innocent, then we shall proceed with this deception.
- Claudio and Don Pedro pretend to be talking about how Beatrice is in love with Benedict, knowing that Benedict is listening. They know that Benedict will realize he loves Beatrice once he hears she loves him.
- Beatrice loves me? Was she just using her wit to hide her real feelings? Why I think I love her too!
- Yes, Claudio. Those two use their battle of wits to disguise their love for each other.
- Claudio states that he likes Hero and wants to woo her. At the masquerade ball, Don Pedro pretends to be him and does the wooing for Claudio. But others who do not know the plan, think Don Pedro is in love with Hero and quickly tell Claudio.
- My fair Hero, it is I, Claudio. Your beauty has overtaken me. I must confess my love for you.
- Oh Claudio, art thou so charming that I shall love you, too.
- Friar Francis feels awful when Claudio calls Hero a whore at their wedding and thinks Claudio must have been deceived. Since Hero has fallen ill, he suggests that they fake her death until they find out why Claudio made those false accusations.
