- Amos was a shepherd and also a fig tree farmer. he lived on the border of northern Israel and southern Judah, Tekoa.
- At the time Jeroboam II had rule over Israel, he was a successful military leader that won battles and new territories for Israel. and generated lots of wealth yet in the eyes of the prophets he was one of the worst kings ever!

- His wealth had led to a lack of concern and allowed idol worship for the Gods of Canaan which in turn led to injustice and neglect to the poor.
- THE END
- it got to the point where Amos could no longer take it anymore. He sensed God calling him and travelled up north to Bethel ans started announcing Gods word to the people.
- and this book is a collection of his sermons and poems and visions uttered over the years, they were compiled later to give Gods people a sense of is a divine message to the Northern people kingdom, and it is a message we still need today.
