Lumber comes in on trucks and is unloaded. The team then grades it if needed and stacks it. They then take it to either the pre dryers or the kilns to dry to within spec.
Thank you David for walking me through your department! So you seem like you really know your area very well and have given me alot of information. What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
You're welcome! I love to work on my Camaro and ride my Razor. Also spending time with my 2 kids and wife.
Once the lumber is dried within spec. it is loaded and ran through the planar, cut to different size strips, and pulled at the gangrip to be sorted.
Samantha it is a pleasure to meet you. You do an excellent job as backup utility and have taught me so much today about chop saws.
Thank you Jessica! I would really like to apply for utility for over here, but I get so nervous in interviews. I just don't think I can do it.
You will do great I'm sure. Just be yourself and make them laugh a little to break the ice!
I don't know haha! But I will try. Thank you for the vote of confidence!
Scan chop and chop saws grade the wood and then cut it to different sizes for Finish Mill, RM panels, and Door Machining.
Doug Thank you for spending time with me and teaching me about the Finish Mill.
You are very welcome Jessica. Do you have any other questions or anything else you would like to see
I don't think I have any other questions. Also thanks for sharing the pictures of your motorcycles that you built. You are very talented
Thanks Jessica. I'm gonna share a story with you that will really make you think about why people do the things they do.
This girl was cooking a turkey for her husband and she cut the turkey in half and put it in a pan. The husband asked her why she cut it in half. Her response was because that's how my mom always done it. So the girl called her mom and asked her mom why she did it that way. Her mom's response was because that's how your grandma always did it. So the girl then called her grandma and asked her why she cut the turkey in half. Her response was because I didn't have a pan big enough for the entire turkey so I cooked half of it.
Always ask questionsThere's always a reason for the way something is done and there should be a standard way to do them.
Jennifer is hard at work shipping frame stock to South Branch.
The Finish Mill machines the frame stock, hang rails, and solid drawer fronts. They also produce frame stock that ships directly to South Branch from that area as well as supplying to us internally.
Connie thank you so much for your time today and all the information you have shared with me about RM Panels. And thank you for the stories you shared about your grandbabies as well. I can tell they are your world.
Jessica you are welcome if you need anything or have any questions feel free to come ask. And yes I keep my grandbabies every weekend so I can spend as much time with them as possible.
Rough Mill glues together chop stock to make solid doors and drawer fronts.
Jennifer thank you for walking me through solid drawer fronts. I bet this is a big change from working in retail isn't it?
You're welcome Jessica and absolutely it is, but I enjoy it.
Solid drawer fronts
Melissa thank you so much for your time today and taking me through the Frame Machining process.
Jessica you are very welcome and it was my pleasure. If you have any questions going forward feel free to ask me.
Frame Machining puts notches in the frame stock, drills the dowel holes, and machines the verticals, horizontals, and the centers or intermediates.
Jonesta you have taught me so much about Frame Assembly today. Thank you. I hate that you are leaving but I wish you the best of luck with the carnival.
You're welcome Jessica and Thank you as well. I hate that I am not going to get to work with you but we will keep in touch.
Frame Assembly assembles the frames, then inspects and repairs, then they go through the DET, and get shipped from the frames area to be put on trucks.
Jonesta and Levi!
June it has been great working and learning in Door Machining with you today! Thank you!
You're welcome Jessica anytime! Thanks for your help as well
Door Machining machines all the horizontals and verticals for doors and 5pc drawer fronts. The horizontals go through the molder then to the cope to have the tongue machined on them. They also trim chop stock before it can be machined through the molder. All verticals and horizontals go through inspect / repair and then sent to Marry Up.
Dennis It has been a lot of fun working in door panels and learning the process today. Thank you for being so helpful. Now you can go home and do what you love to do. Cook for your wife and 2 boys
You are welcome Jessica and yes indeed I love to cook.
Door panels trims, profiles, sands, and repairs the solid doors and some drawer fronts. Then they marry up all the doors to send to the RFID tagger to be tagged for traceability.
Stuart thank you for letting me spend time in door clamps today and getting some training. I hope you get to enjoy some golfing soon with your son.
Jessica you are welcome. Never hesitate to come ask if you have any questions. I think my son and I are going to try to get some golf in this weekend.
Door Clamps pull carts from Marry up and assemble, clamp, and inspect the doors. After they fill a cart they go to the dryline to dry.
MatthewandJennifer
DET pulls parts from the dryline and then profiles the horizontal edges of the doors.
The Sandline pulls the parts after they have went through the DET and feed them through the sander. They take .020 off the back and .030 off the front. They inspect and repair as the doors move down the conveyor. If it can not be repaired quickly on the line it is pulled off for repair. If it is a major repair then they flip the door back side up and send it to Major Repair. All good doors move around to shipping.
Renee going through shipping and materials with you has really helped me better understand more of the process and the different style doors we make. Thank you!
Jessica that is great to hear. If you need help or have any questions just ask.
