A Friend of “Eka’s family know of “work” for Eka in Papua. Parents are agreeable to sending her to work for this friend. Eka is 15.
Eka begins as a server in a bar, singing, serving and entertaining the men.
This is her “grooming” period where she is treated well and begins to trust her employer.
She lives in a “hotel” with many other girls doing the same thing. Most are underage.
Eka is very beautiful, the men like her. It is time for the reality of her “job” to take on a new form. She no long will serve in the front of the bar, but is now expected to serve the men in the bedroom in the back.
Sometimes up to 15 men per day. She makes good money for her boss, but Eka has a debt to pay for her travel and living expenses, so she must continue to work.
“Work” is no longer enough for her boss, she must now recruit. She calls on her cousin and friends back home that she knows are beautiful and convinces them to come. If they don’t, she pays the price through beatings.
She has come to rely on cigarettes, drugs and alcohol to relieve her stress and pain
When Eka is 17, she successfully recruits her cousin who is ready to get away from the poverty her family lives in. Eka comes home for a visit and secretly takes her cousin Kati back to Papua with her.
Kati’s parents learn of their daughters move to Papua and immediately know what she has gotten herself into.
They report this to the authorities. Kati is 16.
The Podol (Police) in Manado call CF with a potential investigation and probable rescue and arrest in Papua. They will keep CF informed, but tell them to prepare for an intake.
With the parents assistance, the location of the girls is identified and a team from the Manado Police Dept and the Women’s Empowerment organization
go to Papua to complete the investigation, make the rescue and arrests and bring both victims and perpetrators back to Manado for processing.
Sequence - Police coming in, girls being taken out, men being arrested. Lot's of close up shots, since that'd be hard to replicate. Flashing police lights, etc.
Once on the ground in Manado, the police call CF to meet them at the Polda for intake and processing of the girls.
Chika is trained by the FBI in forensic interviewing, so Chika, a Social Worker and 2 CF Security guards make their way to the Polda for the long process of intake.
Interviews with the girls and the family and the police determine whether a girl will come into CF care. Is the home safe for the girl to return to or is it better for her to come into our care?
Interviews with families and police about process?
Both Eka and Kati will come into care with CF. Back at the shelter the staff has been preparing themselves and the existing girls for the intake of 2 new sisters.
Interviews with staff about what happens after they get to the shelter, rules/house values, stabilization period.
Embarking on their program: Clinical, Medical/Dental, Educational, activities, goal setting, more adjustments, developing trust and relationship with staff and sisters. Dreaming and hope for the future.
Sequence of the different activities or interviews.
Working through program to a place where permissions and responsibilities increase. All with a plan toward re-integration.
Re-integration process (involves internships or advanced school in the community, work experience, family training and communication, etc.)
