- (3) Mr. Sloth – “Katrina thank you for showing us how you celebrate.”
- (4) Mr. Sloth – “Next up Lochlan”
- (1) Katrina – “Hi my name is Katrine; my family and I are faithful Christians who celebrate Christmas by going to a church service to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Afterwards we will sit around the Christmas tree and giving and receiving gifts, this reminds us of the gift of Jesus.”
- (2) Claire – “See that makes more sense”
- (3) Lachlan – “It’s simple I just don’t celebrate Christmas it is just another day for us. However, we do celebrate other holidays during the year.
- (2) Claire – “Wait how do you not celebrate Christmas? It is like the best holiday in the year”
- (1) Lachlan – “Hi my name is Lachlan; and my family and I are Jewish and we don’t celebrate Christmas as it is not important because it is the day of Jesus’ birth.
- (4) Mr. Sloth – “Again Claire different religions have different beliefs to others. Anyway, thank you Lachlan for telling us about your beliefs.”
- (2) Claire – “Is this a joke, so you don’t celebrate Christmas either?”
- (1) Rachel – “Hi my name is Rachel; my family and I are Hindus, we do not celebrate Christmas, however, we still love to give gifts to children and decorate with lamps and mango or banana leaf’s.”
- (3) Mr. Sloth – “That is enough Claire, Rachel and her family have different beliefs to the rest of us which is okay, and it is okay if they don’t celebrate Christmas. Thank you, Rachel you may sit down.”
- (3) Claire – “Are you kidding? How do none of you celebrate Christmas normally?”
- (1) Jerad – “Hi I am Jerad; My family and I are Muslims we do not celebrate Christmas; however, we like to help people attend church services, and we like to do food drives to bring joy to those who celebrate alone.”
- (4) Jerad – “Just because we don’t celebrate Christmas like each other doesn’t make the day any less special. It’s just what we believe in, and if we where all the same it would be a very boring world.”
- (2) Mr. Sloth – “Wow that is amazing Jerad, that is a special way to celebrate.”
- (2) Claire – “Oh, that makes sense I suppose I have just never known that all the different religions celebrate differently.”
- (3) Mr. Sloth – “That’s exactly right Claire this just shows the diversity within the class.”
- (1) Mr. Sloth – “That is exactly right Jerad. Claire we all have our own beliefs and celebrate in different ways it could be as simple as playing cricket on Christmas with your whole family or not celebrating at all because we are all individuals who believe in different things.”
- Mr. Sloth – “Thank you to everyone for giving us a taste of how they celebrate Christmas.”
