  • A soccer player's shooting percentage is the proportion of shots that result in a goal. A soccer player with a greater shooting % has a higher chance of hitting the target.
  • Now, let's try using decimals on 2 sports and Coach Liah will show you on how to use decimal on both sports.
  • For example, A player makes 78 shots on goal, and in that time, scores 22 goals.
  • Decimals are used in baseball for batting average, batting through a season, earned run average , Games played, and points per game.

  • 22 goals ÷ 78 shots = 0.282. This player's shooting percentage is 0.282, or 28.2%.

  • For example, The team Marikina has a Total Bases of 3910 and At Bats of 7282.
  • To compute it is dividing the average Total Bases and At Bats. So the total would be 0.5369
  • Using Percentage in Baseball
  • A pitcher's winning percentage is calculated by dividing his total number of wins by his total number of decisions (wins plus losses). Pitchers who get the win or the loss are known as the "pitchers of record" in a game, and winning percentage indicates how frequently a pitcher wins when he is the pitcher of record.
