  • "Our clocks are broken. What time is it Mr. Wolf?"
  • The hour hand is in between two numbers...5 and 6. As a rule we look at the smaller number. So the hour is 5. The minute hand is pointing to the 3. It has gone one quarter of the way around the clock. So the time is quarter past 5. We can also read it as 5:15 because one quarter of 60 minutes (1 hour) is 15! You can also count around the clock by fives. 5, 10, 15.

  • Mr. Deer set out down the path toward Mr. Wolf's cave. Along the way he met up with Mrs. Rabbit. She was nervously hopping all around and trying to fix her broken clock. She was very worried that she would not be home in time to feed her little babies. Mr. Deer tried to calm her down. He asked her to join him on the journey to meet the king of time, Mr. Wolf. She agreed in a squeaky voice and off they went.
  • When the two animals arrived to the cave, Mr. Wolf had just stepped outside. He was holding a silver pot in his hand. Mr. Deer explained their situation, "Our clocks are broken. What time is it Mr. Wolf?" Mrs. Rabbit was timid and a little scared of the huge brown wolf. She squeaked, "Please help us!"
  • The wolf looked at them both and began to read the time on his master clock. After he finished, he invited both creatures inside to join him and Mr. Owl. He promised to fix their clocks.
  • What...what time is it Mr. Wolf?
  • Mr. Deer and Mrs. Rabbit sat down at the table with Mr. Owl. They chatted quietly about their clocks and made guesses about why they had broken. As they spoke Mr. Wolf disappeared into the depths of the cave once more. They heard more clanging and banging. Not one of them found it odd in the least.
  • Back in the woods, Mr. Raccoon was picking through the delicious scraps of a campground trashcan. While he chewed on the remains of a picnic dinner he became aware that his clock was no longer ticking. Knowing that the park ranger would be checking the campsites at dusk he began to worry about the time. Then, like a lightbulb going off, he knew what he had to do.
  • Mr. Raccoon made the long trip to the king's cave. He brought along a banana peel to munch on while he walked. When he arrived he was very nervous. He saw Mr. Wolf outside the cave holding a spoon. Mr. Raccoon was very scared, but managed to ask the wolf for the time.
