Storyboard Text

  • Camp life was uncomfortable and filled with bands to bring joy to the soldiers.
  • "ARBY'S WE HAVE THE MEATS!"
  • African American soldiers were used as nurses, cooks, spies, and more for the Union and Confederacy because they weren't trusted with weapons of any sort. They later found themselves in their own African American troops for the Union.
  • I hope ya'll enjoy this chicken. One day I hope to sit in your seat.
  • Many injuries would be infected by the time soldiers were treated due to under staffed and unsanitary conditions causing many soldiers to have amputated limbs. Soldiers had to under go surgery with no anesthesia.
  • NO! That's my shooting arm.

  • Except they DIDN'T have "the meats". The Union had beans, bacon pickled beef, and soup made from cake crumble. The Confederacy had sloosh. Both drank or consumed coffee in one way or another.
  • More than 50,000 men died in war camps. Prisoners buried themselves and they weren't given any building materials because guards saw them as weapons.
  • You shall never be let free.

  • They were yelled forward by leaders throwing shells 20 ft in front of them. Sometimes it was even impossible to see your team and troop through the build up and dust from the battle. There was always a band playing to lighten the mood.
