- Guillermo Miller, was a British military man who contributed in an outstanding way in the war of independence of Chile and Peru. He was the commander of the cavalry during the battle of Ayacucho.
- José Domingo de La Mar y Cortázar, was a soldier and politician who was born in the territory of the government of Quito, identifying himself as Peruvian. He was the general of the second division during the battle of Ayacucho
- The consolidation of the independence of Spanish South America. December 9, 1824 was when the United Liberation Army of Peru defeated the Royal Army of Peru, definitively sealing the independence of the nascent South American republics.
