Eight masked average ballerinas danced on the stage
Ladies and Gentlemen...
An announcer tries to deliver a news bulletin before he gives up and hands it to a ballerina
Harrison Bergeron has escaped from jail
The ballerina delivers the bulletin about a man named "Harrison Bergeron" who threatened the equality that society had formed
Suddenly, Harrison appears on stage. He declares he shall rule over society, with a beautiful ballerina as his queen.
I am the Emperor!
However, during his ceremony of dancing with the ballerina, he is shot and dies instantaneously.
In the story, "Harrison Bergeron," Vonnegut describes a society in which everyone is equal, and where no one could contest one another. The scene I've depicted through this storyboard is a situation in the story itself which happened on live television. It is through this story, I believe, that Vonnegut tries to show that society will never truly be perfect, and how trying to make it perfect only makes people go through more suffering. This scene indicates the fact that putting people through constant suffering, especially when it's for something out of their control, that some will rise up and try to take control. In the story, it is described how Harrison was a fourteen year old boy who was severely handicapped, and as such, he felt the obligation to stand up against society in hopes that he could save people from the torture they had gone through, even though his methods of doing so were childish. However, he was cut short despite the people being on his side. The person in charge of the equalist torture systems and devices appeared and put a stop to the uprising herself using a shotgun, killing both Harrison and the ballerina.
