Queen Victoria was born in London in 1819. She was the daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg. She lived in Kensington palace.
Victoria was 18 years old when she became queen in 1837. Her coronation was on the 28th of June 1838 at Westminster abbey
Queen Victoria married her cousin Albert and they had 9 children, 5 girls and 4 boys. Alice, Alfred, Albert,Victoria, Helena, Louise, Leopold and Beatrice.
Queen Victoria, ensured that all of her 9 children married into royal and noble families across Europe. She became known as The Grandmother of Europe.
In 1861, Albert died young at the age of only 42 and sadly Queen Victoria was left a widow and she was so upset that she wore black for the rest of her life.
Queen Victoria reigned for longer than any other King or Queen before her. Her reign lasted over 63 years. During her reign there were 10 different prime ministers. She is the second longest reigning monarch after Queen Elizabeth 11. She died in 1901 on the isle of white.
