- In the first scene, we see Izzy stumbling into a bar called "the forest" to avoid her boyfriend. she is only 16 so she had to finesse her way into the bar. she soon realizes after she makes her way to the stage, that there was a comedy act going on.the person on stage was named Mo. she was dressed without a care in the world, with a bow tie on, and a fun and wacky skirt.
- after Mo's performance, Izzy was suddenly called onto stage, not ready for what she had just gotten into. She proceeded to tell some jokes and realized that she enjoyed comedy. after her performance, Mo walked up to her table, followed by some other guys and they all decided to exchange information. Izzy and the others had formed a strong bond and had started going to more bars in the future. everyone besides Izzy were all college students, so they had pretty much no trouble getting into these sorts of places.
- ALL COLLEGE SHOWCASE
- in this scene, after Izzy and the gang snuck into a bar to audition for the "all college showcase" comedy act, someone had given her an edible. this made her start to freak out, especially after seeing her dad in the same bar with her and also having to go perform soon. she had ended up hiding under the table, telling her older sister to call her dad to make him go outside, letting them sneak out the back.
- in this scene, we see Mo finding out that Izzy was only in high school. Mo was devastated, mainly because Izzy was lying to them the whole time, about something that was pretty serious. Izzy had tried explaining herself to Mo, but she had ran off leaving her stunned. after this, Izzy had learned that she had made it into the all college showcase, but after what happened with Mo, she had no enthusiasm to go.
- after Izzy had convinced herself to go to the showcase, she had learned that Mo and everyone else was there, with Mo also being an alternate. to try and make it up to Mo, Izzy had told the recruiter that she was only 16, forcing Mo into her place, letting her go up onstage instead of her. towards the end of the book, their friendship starts to grow again, showing that friendships can be healed, with time and effort.
