- Mr. Jones, the owner of Manor farm, locked the hen house for the night, and went to bed drunk.
- After Mr. Jones went to bed, all the farm animals gathered into the big barn for word had gone round that Old Major had a strange dream that he wished to tell them about.
- Comrades, you already know of the strange dream I had that I wish to tell you about, but first let me tell you something else. It won't be long before I die, and this is what I wish you all will prepare for while I'm gone.
- Old Major encourages the animals of the farm to prepare for a Rebellion to rid this world of Men.
- A REBELLION!!
- My comrades, the cause of all our sufferings can be summed up in one word: Man. Man is the only real enemy we have. Remove man from the scene and our problems are solved. To accomplish this I encourage you all to rebel.
- Major told the animals of his strange dream that reminded him of a song his mother used to sing when he was a little pig. A song that he had long forgotten: Beasts of England.
- Now, comrades let me share with you my dream.
- Singing the song made the animals wildly excited. Before long, the farm animals sang the song with amazing unison. They would have sang it all through the night, if it weren't for Mr. Jones that shot out six times into the darkness. The song then seized and, the gathering dispersed.
