  • BENEFITS ENROLLMENT ENDS THIS WEEK LEARN MORE TODAY AT 2PM IN THE AUDITORIUM!
  • In fact, we have so many other family expenses that if it weren't for our workplace retirement plans, we would likely not be saving for retirement at all. I know you're not in the same boat, Dave, but that's all the more reason to start saving NOW!
  • Our company's retirement plan is a great benefit. They match whatever I contribute up to 6% - that's money that my husband, Mike, and I would otherwise not have saved.
  • Dave & his Personal Connection: Conquering the Shoulda Woulda Couldas
  • It's Tuesday morning, & Dave is on his second cup of coffee. He's refueling to tackle the quarterly management report he has due later this week when...
  • That was easy!
  • Dave overhears Pete & Erin discussing benefits changes. When he shares with them that he hasn't really thought about it, Erin reminds him he's got til the end of the week to make some decisions.
  • Dave heads back to his desk & quickly looks over benefit information. He knows he needs to re-enroll in health benefits, but he's not so sure about contributing to the retirement plan. He's got plenty of time to think about retirement. Plus he just signed a lease for a new car.
  • He wants to know more about this retirement plan so he asks his co-worker, Gretchen. Surely she'll know more - she is definitely one who is organized & knowledgeable about how to plan for the future.
  • Retirement is the last thing on Dave's mind, but listening to Gretchen - someone who is rarely haunted by the SHOULDA WOULDA COULDAS - causes him to re-think his decision not to participate.
  • That afternoon, Dave attends the open forum to learn more about the 401(k) plan. April, the presenter, explains the benefits & shows how contributing even a little bit can impact the long-term goal.
  • Hmm... I think I can do this without disrupting my life too much!
  • Afterwards, Dave asks April about what steps he should take to enroll in the plan. She lets him know that he can do so online, via a phone rep or if he has his iPhone with him, he can do it right now. Dave downloads the app right there & in one click, begins saving for retirement.
  • Dave feels so much better now that he's defeated his SHOULDA WOULDA COULDAS, and taken a part in owning his tomorrow.
  • Now, back to those quarterly management reports...
