- Montag makes his way home after work
- He ran into a strange, beautiful girl
- Of course, you're our new neighbor aren't you?
- They walked home together.
- After another successful day at the job, Montag starts his walk home, whistling to himself, but slowed as he reached the corner with an eerie feeling.
- As they approached Clarisse's house, Montag was amazed
- As he rounded the corner he ran into Clarisse McClellan.
- Montag reached his own house.
- After introducing each other, they started walking home together, for they lived down the street from each other. Clarisse was asking tons of questions which annoyed Montag at points.
- Montag dragged through his empty, but not empty house.
- MILDRED!!!!
- Clarisse's house was very lit up. She said it was just her family up, talking. Before she ran across the lawn, she had asked Montag if he is happy, disappearing before he could answer.
- What's going on? There's so many lights !
- Are you happy?
- The rest of Montag's walk, he couldn't stop thinking about the interaction between him and Clarissse. He began questioning his life and his real emotions.
- Of course I'm happy.
- Just as Montag realized he was not happy, he walked into his bedroom to his wife. He realized she had overdosed on sleeping tablets and had to get her stomach pumped, causing more chaos in his mind.
