Forum 3: Lady Audley's Secret
Storyboard Text
- Lady Audley awakes in her room. She is perfectly dressed, but is clearly tired as she has eye bags.
- Lady Audley feels the need to disclose why she looks the way she does this morning, and says that she was up late reading; people do not see her flaws the way she does.
- I know I look like a mess, I was up all night reading.
- Sweetheart, you look great.
- Miss Audley joins Lady Audley and Sir Michael Audley at the table. However, since the newspaper has not arrived, there is nothing to talk about. This is terribly awkward for Miss Audley who would otherwise attempt to avoid lady Audley altogether.
- It is not very nice out at the moment.
- I guess I will not be going riding today, that is unless Bob decides to come.
- I wish you would not make jokes about Bob, he is a nice man.
- *Silence continues as it starts to rain*
- Mr. Audley will most likely be arriving soon, despite the rain. He will definitely point out some things in the house.
- Miss Audley mentions that Mr. Audley is expected to arrive soon; she adds that he will make comments on why things are, this news leaves Lady Audley looking pale. Perhaps, this is due to the unexpected comments of the house she can anticipate, or a result of someone else seeing her tired look this morning.
- Is that so?
- Sir Michael Audley observes Miss Audley as she speaks of her cousin.
- He will show up with his shiny hat, and "white vapour" coming out of his pockets (339).
- Sir Michael Audley and Miss Audley walk into a separate room to talk. He tells Miss Audley that Major Melville called yesterday to inform him of Sir Harry Tower's whereabouts. The news causes Miss Audley to blush.
- Major Melville called yesterday, to say that your admirer, Sir Harry Towers, has "gone on the Continent for a twelvemonth's tour" (340).
- Is that so? He told me he had planned to go, but never said when.
